The blade pitch of a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine can have profound impact on the aerodynamic loading experienced by turbine. This in turn impacts structural loads and performance machine. In order to characterize effects changing pitch, studies are conducted with fixed offsets from neutral position open jet wind tunnel TU Delft. Measurements strain gages bonded turbine struts used estimate normal blades. measured behavior gives insights into sensitivity angle. Aerodynamic phenomena associated VAWTs evident data including dynamic stall vortex interaction. Shifting is shown alter azimuthally varying loading, causing changes magnitude direction rotor thrust. Frequency responses platform mounting structure presented for rotating reference frames, respectfully. due high excite higher per rev frequencies both measurements accelerations. sets made available validation numerical models.
